MB&F has always been a brand that breaks the limits of the watchmaking industry. Whether it is related to the time display method or the case design method, the boundaries will always be broken. HM9 is a good example-MB&F has created a brand new watch. Inspired by cars and airplanes from the 1940s and 1950s, this watch has two balance wheels and a vertical time display. The case itself really looks like airplanes and cars of that era, with aerodynamics as the focus.
The original watch was made of titanium and gold, and fake MB&F broke the boundaries further with the HM9 SV. SV has a sapphire and gold case, allowing the wearer to see the entire movement. Crazy, right? Accompanied by the patented 3D gasket, this is the first time a watch company has performed such an operation, and the amount of processing that makes this case lifelike is shocking. Max Busser said in an interview that the sapphire that the original HM9 used to display the flying balance took 60 hours to manufacture. Imagine what happened in the whole case!
HM9 has four colors. Black, blue, rose gold and our personal favorite purple, limited edition.
This new F1 element racing inspired by Fragment’s watch.
After TAG Heuer launched its first watch in collaboration with Hiroshi Fujiwara, a well-known person in the streetwear industry of Fragment Design, TAG Heuer continued the partnership between the two parties, and the two brands jointly created another limited edition watch, which is stylish and modern. Design and minimalist dial. But this time, this watch is not based on the existing Carrera model. Instead, it introduces a new concept of TAG, which brings us back to the 1970s racing style watch! Meet the new TAG Heuer x fragment design caliber Heuer 02 automatic chronograph.
Hiroshi Fujiwara is the founder of Fragment Design. The company was founded in 2003 and is an interdisciplinary brand. Since then, he has collaborated with some of the largest and most famous brands in the fields of fashion, design and art. He collaborated with TAG Heuer (TAG Heuer) in 2019 to create a very beautiful Carrera watch with a black dial and a retro-style shape and design, we introduce it to you here. Today, “the godfather of streetwear” once again brought his style to the chronograph, but it has not yet become part of a permanent collection!
The latest TAG Heuer x Fragment is new, but at the same time makes you feel familiar. Its 44mm case was inspired by the C-shaped case style (found in the second-generation Autavia watches) inspired by racing in the 1960s and 1970s, and the shape of the case is also in the current series of TAG Heuer Found. In fact, it is the foundation of the current entry-level Formula One watch. But here, the case has been improved, expanded and modified to suit the high-end movement inside.
Now, the sides of the lugs of this C-shaped case incorporate a brushed surface and a polished accent. It has a classic pusher and screw-in crown and is protected by integrated protective devices. This watch is water-resistant to 100m, with sapphire crystals on both sides, and the piece on the back of the watch is painted red, which is an iconic element of Fujiwara design. Similar to the Formula One watch is a fixed bezel with a notch. The bezel is equipped with a smooth black ceramic insert and is engraved with a tachymeter scale-the scale is the same as the scale used by Autavia imitation watches in the 1970s.
The dial is the main attraction here in a bold and simple way. The concept is to remove all extra decorative dials. No textures, no applied marks, just the basic elements necessary to read the watch. The black milky white dial has white traces and indicators, and red accents are added to the hour markers and hands. The lightning logo at 12 o’clock and the word “Fragment” at 5 o’clock remind people of the origin of the watch. Again, this stylish design pays homage to racing fake designer watches of the 1970s, such as Autavia.
To power this TAG Heuer x Fragment Design caliber Heuer 02 automatic chronograph, the brand relies on its internal integrated chronograph with column wheels and vertical clutch. TAG Heuer 02 is a modern chronograph movement with complete functions and powerful functions. It has an 80-hour power reserve and operates at a frequency of 4 Hz.
The Fragment Design caliber Heuer 02 automatic chronograph is worn on a new 5-link stainless steel bracelet with a hidden butterfly steel clasp and safety button. As in the case, it uses brushed and polished surfaces alternately.
Interestingly, the model seems to imply a new model in the Formula One lineup, which now focuses mainly on quartz chronograph movements (except for some Sellita SW500 models) and affordable prices. This TAG Heuer x Fragment Design is very likely to become a trailer for the upcoming Formula 1 Heuer 02 watch, which is the top model in this racing series.
